How many children do you have and what are their age(s)?
I have 2 children. My daughter Piper is 4 years old and my son Everett is 15 months.
How long have you lived in Charlottesville area? What made you decide to live here?
I followed my mom and sister to Charlottesville in 2008 after growing up and attending college in Pittsburgh, Pa.
What’s your favorite family activity (in Charlottesville)?
My family loves to be outside! We live at Lake Monticello where we kayak, swim, walk and go to our many parks. When we venture into Cville, we love the downtown mall and Riverside Park. We are also annual pass holders at Monticello so we hang out there a good bit too! And of course, wineries! Our new favorite is the very family friendly Mt. Ida.
Where’s your favorite place to eat and/or shop in Charlottesville?
We like burger places like Citizen Burger or Zinburger with the kids. Without the kids we love Mas Tapas in Belmont.
I like shopping at Anthropologie for myself and Green Bean Baby and Whimsies for the kids!
What’s one thing people would be surprised to know about you?
I am a licensed contractor and the first person to graduate from college in my family.

Casey Eves Design works with busy families to help make their houses into homes! Whether you want to paint your cabinets, decorate a room or remodel your entire home, we’ve got you covered. ALL of my clients are women and most are moms. I think that they really appreciate that we are generally int he same stage of life and on the same page in terms of aesthetics and style.
This business was on my heart for many years. I worked in sales for over a decade and became very good at sales, marketing, relationship building, etc. However, that job made me really grumpy and I knew I wanted to start something of my own. I have also always loved renovation, remodeling and design. I grew up with grandparents who had many investment properties and so I learned early on about building trades and real estate. And then, when we started buying real estate on our own, I developed the skills to project manage renovation projects. I also really started to see that this area needed to have accessible design services to help busy families.
I always start with an in-home consult to get to know the space and the people in it. Design consults are 2 hours and run $300. These are a GREAT use of time! Many clients will find that the 2 hour consult is all they need. Cabinet painting consults are FREE but are limited to discussing the painting process and color selection.
Do you have any kid-friendly tips on how to style a home?
Go up with storage: utilize walls with high storage. It allows you take up less floor space and cycle through toys successfully . This way the kids don’t have toys at their disposal all the time! Also, go big in general. Most people have rugs too small, art too small, or couches too small for their space. People have a fear of buying big because they don’t want to overwhelm the space. When you have bigger things like rugs and couches, it will make the room feel bigger.
How has this community been instrumental in getting you to where you are now?
Charlottesville’s local social media has been very instrumental in growing my business. I’ve found a lot of support on the local Facebook social media networks including Boss Babes Cville and the Cville Moms FB group. You can find me on FB and IG under Casey Eves Design. What is one piece of advice you wish someone told you about being a mother?
Let them be themselves!
