Meet Ewa! She is the founder of Our Little Planets. Little Planets is an indoor play space at IX. They also offer nature-inspired play areas at festivals and live events and indoor and outdoor play area design services. 2 boys! 6 & 11.
How long have you lived in Charlottesville? What made you decide to live here?
We moved here in 2012. We loved the location, the people, and the vibe!
What’s your favorite family activity (in Charlottesville)?
Anything outdoors – parks, hikes, orchards!
Where’s your favorite place to eat and/or shop in Charlottesville?
We’re so spoiled by how many delicious options there are in Cville! I can’t pick just one!
What’s one thing people would be surprised to know about you?
I double-minored in Philosophy and Art.

What made you want to start Our Little Planets?
Wanting there to be someone for my boys to really enjoy at the events I enjoy attending.
How has this community been instrumental in getting you to where you are now?
I pitched at the Tom Tom Festival’s Crowd-funded Pitch Night a few years ago and won 2nd place. The prize was a scholarship to the Community Investment Collaborative which was an amazing experience and gave me the support and network I needed to launch the playroom. Working with IX Art Park has also been amazing.
What can we expect to see at the Kids & Nature Festival on June 2?
Fun for the whole fam! Interactive displays from local eco-minded schools, businesses, and organization. Fun activities including the Foxboro Farm Petting Zoo, a live mermaid, balloon art, The Creative Wagon, Kingdoms Lawn Game, and so much more! There will be performances by The Dreamtime Project, The Front Porch, and Blue Ridge Music Together!
What is one piece of advice you wish someone told you about being a mother?
I don’t know what I wish someone told me… but I know something that someone did tell me that always stayed with me – they will only be this age once. So to remember when they are 2 months old (and you barely sleep) this is fleeting – they will only be 2 months old once; they will only be 3 years old once; they will only be 10 years old once… and so on. So I try to remember that and embrace the adventures each day and year brings. It already feels like they are growing up way too fast!
